Fuel Your Liver with This Nutrient-Dense Reset
Starting your day with nutrient-dense foods sets the tone for how your body functions. This vibrant detox drink packs serious cleansing power into a delicious, drinkable form. Perfect for supporting your body’s natural detoxification pathways.
Why These Ingredients Work
Every ingredient in this drink serves a purpose:
Beets are liver superstars. They support phase 2 detoxification and help your body produce glutathione. This is one of your most powerful antioxidants. Beets also improve bile flow, which is essential for eliminating toxins.
Red Cabbage is rich in sulfur compounds that support liver detoxification. It’s also packed with anthocyanins, the same antioxidants that give berries their deep color.
Berries (or cherries) provide antioxidants that protect your cells during the detox process. They’re also anti-inflammatory and support healthy gut bacteria.
Pear or Apple adds natural sweetness and soluble fiber, which helps bind to toxins in your digestive tract and carry them out of your body.
Lemon stimulates digestive juices and provides vitamin C, which supports glutathione production and protects your liver. (optional but recommended)
The Recipe
Makes: 2 – 2.5 cups
Ingredients:
1⁄2 small raw beet, peeled
1⁄2 – 3⁄4 cup frozen berries (or cherries)
1 pear or Granny Smith apple, cored
1⁄2 cup chopped red cabbage
1⁄2 cup water or coconut water for a sweeter flavor
Squeeze of lemon juice (optional)
Instructions:
Blend all ingredients in a high-powered blender until smooth. Add more liquid if needed to reach your desired consistency.
Tips for Success
Make it sweeter: Use coconut water instead of plain water, or add an extra half pear. The natural sweetness balances the earthiness of the beets and cabbage.
Prep ahead: Chop your beets and cabbage on meal prep day and store them in containers. In the morning, just dump and blend.
Freeze the extras: Made too much? Pour leftovers into silicone freezer pop molds (or paper cups with popsicle sticks) for a healthy frozen treat later.
Best timing: Drink this in the morning on an empty stomach for maximum detox benefits. Also great as an afternoon pick-me-up instead of coffee.
Texture matters: If you prefer a thinner consistency, add more liquid. For a thicker, smoothie-bowl style, use less water and top with granola or seeds.
